An early start away from the Mount at 0325 found me in Hamilton closer to 0530 Victoria time. A short drive to the Iluka Separation Plant found S312 and S302 already sitting inside the complex with their loaded train in the dark. The unloading was underway with a fair number of interested persons present watching or partaking in the operation (about six) that I could see.
Anticipating that I would have plenty of opportunities for shots of this train once unloaded, of course it would come out of the Iluka Siding travel about 15 kilometres to Chrome Siding at the 337K post
(I know I went there), run around the train and head back to Hopetoun with the empties. This was going to enable me to get the shots I have ‘longed’ for of it near Hamilton,
Dunkeld, Glenthompson and onto Maroona where I would leave
it and head for home.
The last time I saw the train moving inside the complex at Iluka was when I went for the recce run to Chrome Siding near
Branxholme, at that stage it had completed the unloading of the first rake of hoppers and had moved back to the head of the second rake of hoppers.
Upon returning to the Iluka Plant, the locos were still in the same position I had seen them, and by now had been shut down, all activity had stopped and the elusive shots of any train between Hamilton and Maroona had once again thwarted me. I turned my head for home….

Managed two trips to Moorabool Viaduct yesterday, was fortunate enough to phott a train crossing the structure with two NR's, just in the right place at the right time.
The second visit in the evening shows 'El Zorros' train to Sea Lake with G521 - X31 & B74 crossing the viaduct, (where else) a jog back to the car and off in pursuit of the 'train'. Managed a few shots along the way including Bannockburn, the last pics were taken in favourable lighting about 4 km south of Meredith.

Made the trip into Geelong North, then onto Williamstown to see the RMS Titanic pub again from the outside. Into South Dynon for a few pics, was a very hot day in the City today around the 38c mark.. Managed a few shots of what locos were accessible, I did notice a few changes, the long
line of Y class locos about midway in the yard have been shifted, about six of them (Y) class are now parked closer to the overpass road..
The two GM shell remains have vanished too.. Other than not that many locos to be seen, a couple of QRN G class were in the proximity to the turntable. Other
than was a little disappointing..

I did find a good tunnel though just beyond the station on the Warrnambool track, was mostly a recce run for the A class on the cement train to Waurn Ponds. Early start tomorrow morning and back out to Gheringhap..

Visited
the Geelong North C cabin this morning 6th February, managed a few pictures of a PN grain train leaving the grain loop, locos G524 & XR551.
The pics of T400 show it passing the cabin to hook up to the PN train and shunt it back into Geelong North Yard along with the other locos still on the front of the train.
Then took a trip to Daylesford. Went for a ride on the railcar from Daylesford to Musk, enjoyed the trip.
Ended up at Ballarat came across new Metro Electric sets in the yard some without (nose panels)..Stopped at NAVIGATORS on the return journey, great potential for a top shot of any train passing under the stone bridge there...
This is worthy of another visit before I head home
later.

Today was going to be a non training day, well it was until about 1500 when I decided to make tracks for Melton and Bacchus Marsh.. Was surprised to see another old viaduct across a reservoir not far out of Melton when doing the recce run for the area.
Ended up not far out of Bacchus Marsh perched on top of an embankment and waited there for the evening peak trains to come to me.. Variety was quite good including P on each end, those little 7000 class railcars, N class in both VLine colours, and the Sprinters with their extra bright headlights.
As the 'source' advised the A's appear to work two of the peak services to Ballarat, that was it with A66 and A70 making the peak runs, both being stabled at Bacchus Marsh after their trips, was hoping for one returning up hill outta Bacchus Marsh but was not to be...

Another visit to the Geelong North C cabin this afternoon in time to see a PN empty grain train leaving the grain loop with G525 H1 & X39 up front..
Travelled the short distance to nearby Thompsons Road road crossing in time to see steel train passing by the PN empty grain with G525 H1
and X39....
Following a brief detour via ANAKIE rolled back into Bacchus Marsh and waited for the afternoon peak time trains to arrive, managed to miss A62 rolling downhill into Bacchus Marsh.

I tried to have a day away from the trains but failed, following a short walk and visit to
Pt Lonsdale again and the lighthouse ventured over to Queenscliff and came across a couple of Tasmanian ex
diesel locos along with 'Peronnes brother
Pozieres' in light steam standing in the sometimes pouring rain.
Watched as possibly the organisations latest operational loco ...? ex QR 1604 came into the yard with a number of carriages, flat wagons and what looks like an ex ABAA van in tow,
with the remains of the old AN snail sticker logo hanging on
side for dear life to the rusting sides of the van.
I liked the number 1604 on the cabside shown in one of the pics here.
Did manage a few pics of the two Tas diesels shunting some wagons/carriages away from the station, by this time the rain had returned and decided it was time to
go so that was about it for the day.

pic was taken at Geelong Loco shows 4 N class locos.
BL32 with H1 & A85 were sitting in Geelong North Yard (PN)...
The El Zorro with G521 X31 B74 & T413 were discharging grain, then came out.
The other two trains in some of the pics were both PN grain trains, one on the BG, the one on the SG, G539 XR558 XR559.
