LYNDOCH

21st February 2010

I drove to Lyndoch to get some photo’s of the former Rail Station & Yards in Lyndoch, I can remember my wife’s family who live in Williamstown saying when they were children they use to catch the Train at Lyndoch to get to town.
I had a look around the track through town for evidence of a platform and it wasn’t hard to find. There’s a main cement platform southern side and a smaller metal & cement platform northern side the side the current track runs along.
The width between the two platforms shows there was once two tracks in the past between the two Platforms to pick up Passengers in the good old days.

R.I.P. Nuriootpa Railway Station.  The vandals have spray painted it, smashed it, wrecked it and the pigeons and white ants have probably helped along the way too... This be a view of the S.A.R. in ruins. That would sum up some of the shots I and am sure many other people along the way would have captured shots of broken down buildings, felled signals? Wrecked items of the S.A.R. railways scene/era.

pickup shed when the station was unattended.

The end of the line and yard there are lots of trees, and somewhere in amongst the undergrowth there is a small turntable.  Here I tried to take a pic of it, but was unable to see too much of the thing.
