12th June 2010
Trip to the Northern Yorke Peninsula's Copper Coast.
Leaving home at 8am travelling along the Pt Wakefield Rd and 95 kms later we arrived at Pt Wakefield to check what remains of the Port Wakefield Station
of the former site, then leaving to Kulpara, turning left to Melton about 10 kms south.
At Melton I could easily see the former rail crossing over the Kulpara Maitland Rd , it took a bit more searching to
locate the former station and platform which
I managed to find.

PASKEVILLE
You might
ask were's Paskeville Station after Melton.
Answer, there's nothing, no platform, no Ballast, no Rail and
all level ground too.
|

There is a crane nicely painted and seems not to be
in it's original location right near the main street.

Where Paskeville station
once was, now is not. |
|
| From Melton we returned to Kulpara to join the Copper Coast Highway to Kadina to check the Present Day Scene of former Railway Station & Yard at Kadina Station , after that we continued to Wallaroo and took
photo's there of the Railway Station also there is some remaining rolling stock of the
Yorke Peninsula Railway Tourist Train. |

MOONTA
We arrived at Moonta it was lunch time so we headed to the Cornish Kitchen in town for a feed of Cornish Pasties . After we headed to the Moonta Railway Station built in 1909 to capture more photo's of the Yorke Peninsula Railway Station.
There's a plaque stating this station was built by Gambling & Sons in 1909
and closed in 1979 . The original 5' 3" gauge is still in front of the station with the 2 foot (24
inches) tourist gauge track going over the top of this in a loop.
